Socceroos squad announced to face Paraguay

Tuesday, 28th September, 2010
Socceroos boss Holger Osiek has named a 19 man squad including Harry to play Paraguay in Sydney on the 9th of October. Harry has yet to feature for the Socceroos since his early dismissal against Ghana in South Africa and the Paraguay friendly will mark just Harry's second game this year in a Socceroos shirt.

In Galatasaray news, striker Milan Baros is likely to miss the upcoming away match against 7th placed Karabukspor. However injured captain Arda Turan and defender Sabri Sarioglu are said to be fit meaning Harry could start the match in the striker's position.

Harry comes off the bench in 3-1 victory

Monday, 27th September, 2010
Harry had a 30 minute cameo off the bench as Galatasaray cruised to a 3-1 victory over Istanbul BB. All three goals came from Milan Baros who completed his hat-trick in the first half. His first two goals came in the opening 13 minutes whilst his third was an acrobatic effort just before the end of the half.

Harry came on in the 61st minute and was placed on the left wing. However Istanbul BB scored from a freekick with Lucas Neill leaving his man wide open infront of goal. Just after, Milan Baros picked up a hamstring injury after clashing with a defender. The hat-trick hero was substituted off and received a standing ovation from the Galatasaray faithful. With Milan's injury Harry moved into the striker position. Harry's first attempt at goal saw him take a shot from outside the box but it was mis-hit over the goal and into the stands. Harry had a better opportunity later on when Mismovic fed a through ball into the box however the angle was far too tight for a goal and it resulted in a corner. Moments later during a corner kick Harry crossed the ball to Lucas Neill who acrobatically volleyed his shot onto the crossbar. You can see a video of Harry's cross and Lucas' volley just below.

Harry turns 32!

Harry spent his birthday putting in the hard yards at training with the rest of the team. Following Gala's 1-0 victory on the weekend, the team now sit 7th on the Super Lig table and face 5th placed Istanbul BB in four days time. Galatasaray are currently enjoying a three game winning streak though the last two wins have been hardly convincing with both of them carrying 1-0 scorelines. Several players are still injured with captain Arda Turan, Mehmet Batdal, Sabri and Hakan Balta in doubt for the next match. Three photos from Harry's birthday at training have been added here.

As has been the case since Harry joined Galatasaray, he was presented with a cake at the end of the training session. More photos of Harry getting his cake have been uploaded to the training gallery.

Harry's penalty the difference in 1-0 victory

Tuesday, 14th September, 2010
A fit and healthy Harry Kewell was back in the starting lineup as Galatasaray squeezed a 1-0 victory over Gaziantepspor. After a dull first half where one of the best scoring chances came from an ambitious shot by Harry from outside of the box, Galatasaray started the second period in an attacking mode. Harry was the target of the opposition with two Gaziantepspor players picking up yellow cards just minutes apart, both of them guilty of fouling Harry with one having piggy-backed Harry. Shortly after Harry was yellow carded due to a supposed act of simulation even though his shirt was pulled and the defender had tackled him from behind.

Galatasaray's best chance at goal came from a lovely cross by Insua which Milan Baros headed straight into the keeper's chest. However, just before the hour mark Harry threaded a pass to Milan Baros whose shot was hand balled. The referee awarded the home side a penalty which Harry took and slotted straight down the middle. Harry was substituted five minutes later for Pino whilst Galatasaray managed to hang onto their lead.

Several photos have been added to the Super Lig gallery whilst the penalty can be viewed below.
