Gala go down 2-0 to reigning champs

Monday, August 23, 2010
In their second match of the Super Lig, Galatasaray lost to last season's champions Bursaspor 2-0. Harry played a full match starting on the left wing but was unable to prevent the loss. Despite playing aggressively in the opening minutes, Galatasaray went down early to Bursaspor. Along with poor refereeing decisions, it was a bad night for Galatasaray and they were never really able to have great opportunities on goal.

Several photos have been added to the Super Lig gallery.
Galatasaray's next match is this coming Thursday when they travel to the Ukraine for their second leg of the Europa League qualifying match against Karpaty Lviv. Following last week's 2-2 draw and win will be needed if Galatasaray want to play European football this season.

Kewell and Baros spur second half revival

Harry plays with broken finger as Gala go down 2-1

Sunday, 15th August, 2010
Harry started the match as Galatasaray's sole striker and played a full 90 minute shift as they went down to host team Sivasspor. Galatasaray got off to a good start with Mustafa Sarp yet again opening the scoring following an Arda Turan cross in the 6th minute. However, Galatasaray were unable to build on the lead and allowed a goal following a dubious decision from the referee towards the end of the half. The host team scored again in the 60th minute and maintained their lead until the end.

Following Sivasspor's second goal Batdal came on to play striker and Harry moved over to his natural position on the left wing. Milan Baros was also introduced however he was unable to be much of a threat. Harry had a few chances at goal forcing the opposition keeper to make a couple of good saves however he didn't have any real scoring chances. Harry played despite his ring finger on the left hand being in a cast. Galatasaray's manager Frank Rijkaard was impressed that Harry had been training during the week with his broken finger and Harry showed no problems during the match. Unfortunately for the team they begin the new season with 0 points following a disappointing loss.

Harry helps fire Gala through to the next round

Friday, 6th August, 2010
Harry started in the second leg of Galatasaray's Round 3 Europa League qualifier against OFK Belgrade last night. Following a dismal 2-2 draw last week, Galatasaray needed a win to make it through to the next round and Harry spearheaded the attack being placed in the striker's position that Mehmet Batdal occupied the week before.

Galatasaray opened the scoring early on in the match with a header by Mustafa Sarp from a corner in the 12th minute. Ten minutes later Sarp turned provider sending a defense splitting pass to Harry who coolly finished with his left foot sending the ball past the right of the keeper and into the net. Less than a minute later Harry had a great opportunity to add to his goal tally however he lost the ball at the last second. Ten minutes later OFK Belgrade scored a goal making it 1-2. In the last 15 minutes of the first half Harry provided some drama by getting knocked about and grimacing on the ground in two occasions with the first time requiring the team's medical staff to rush out onto the field.

Just twelve minutes into the second half Harry was brought down in the box by two defenders. He consequently took the penalty sending it to the right of the goalkeeper who managed to get a hand to it but didn't manage to deflect the shot. The scoreline became 4-1 in Galatasaray's favour when Pino sent a great cross to Arda who deftly chipped the ball over the keeper. With the result in the bag Harry was substituted off for Mehmet Batdal in the 72nd minute. Ten minutes later the game was sealed when Batdal shot from close range leaving it 5-1.

Harry played a good game considering he has been out for the majority of the year and has been lacking match fitness. He showed his class with some cheeky backheels and good passing. With Milan Baros' fitness still questionable it will be up to Frank Rijkaard to decide whether to play Harry or Mehmet Batdal at striker.

Harry's goals from the match can be seen below whilst photos can be viewed here.
