Bernie Mandic quashes rumours of EPL return
Wednesday, 29th April, 2009
Harry's management team have been quick to dismiss rumours circulating in Turkey that Harry would like to return to playing in the Premier League so he can be with his family again. Fanatik reported that Harry said, "I want to be with my family and I wait for your understanding".
Whilst Bernie Mandic was quick to rule out Harry's return to the Premier League telling au.fourfourtwo.com "There is no truth in it at all", there is good reason to believe the possibility of Harry returning to the UK. Galatasaray's current league position shows they are unlikely and retain the Super Lig title and may not even make second place meaning no Champions League football. The best they could hope for then would be a spot in the less glamourous Europa League. Despite his star stature in Istanbul, Harry may very well return to the UK and may even end up teaming with Socceroo goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer at Fulham whose manager Roy Hodgson has a liking for Harry.
Galatasaray stumble to 1-1 draw, stay 4th on table
Tuesday, 28th April, 2009
In Sunday's match against Ankaraspor behind closed doors, Galatasaray failed to convert their opportunities and had to settle for 1 point. Despite taking the lead through a Baris Ozbek goal, Galatasaray were unable to put the game out of reach with Nonda and Lincoln both squandering chances. Galatasaray paid the price with the opposition's striker Roguy Meye scoring the equaliser with one minute remaining. Harry played all 90 minutes of the match but was unable to do any damage on the scoring front. Galatasaray next travel to place bottom placed Hacettepe at the end of the week.
A couple of photos from the match have been added to the Turkcell gallery whilst some new photos have been added to the 'Off the Pitch' section.
Harry Kewell advert for GS Mobile
Sunday, 26th April, 2009
Below is a new advertisement for GS Mobile staring Harry.
The Lions face 9th placed Ankaraspor tonight and 3 points will see them move into third place on the Superlig table. The home game is likely to be played in an empty Ali Sami Yen stadium (league's orders) and manager Bulent Korkmaz will have a headache trying to field a team following the league's suspensions of Arda, Sabri and Emre Asik as well as the lingering injuries of Servet Cetin and Emre Gungor. Harry however should be good to go and may even see 90 minutes of action like he did last week. Hopefully he'll be able to get a goal similar to the one in the advert and help keep Gala's title hopes alive.
Gala back on track with 1-0 win
Tuesday, 7th April, 2009
A win was vital last night for if Galatasray wanted to keep their European hopes alive, and they came through with a 1-0 win thanks to an amazing overheadkick from Milan Baros in the 10th minute. Harry had his cross from the right hand side deflected into the way of Baros who acrobatically put the ball into the back of the net. The win leaves Galatasaray 4th on the Turkish Super Lig table, equal with Fenerbahce (3rd) and Trabzobnspor (5th). Galatasaray are now 6 points behind leaders Sivasspor and next week's derby against Fenerbahce will prove to be a very crucial 6-pointer.
